Joe Klassen

Joe Klassen is a Calgary-based entrepreneur and business builder with over 40 years of experience founding, scaling, and acquiring businesses across multiple industries. He serves as a member of Alcedio Capital’s Advisory Board, where he provides senior management with a grounded, operator’s perspective on strategy, business development, and the practical realities of building and growing companies.

Joe is best known as the founder of Joey’s Group of Companies, which he started in 1985 with a single seafood restaurant in Calgary alongside his wife Theresa. Over the decades that followed, he built the business into one of North America’s largest seafood restaurant franchises, while simultaneously expanding into a diversified group of companies spanning food distribution, land development, commercial real estate, and more. Central to this growth was a disciplined approach to vertical integration and strategic acquisition, with Joe identifying and executing on opportunities to bring complementary businesses into the group over time.

His experience as both a founder and an acquirer gives him a practical and commercially grounded perspective that complements Alcedio’s advisory and direct investment work. Joe is also actively involved in the Calgary community, having co-founded the Business For Calgary Kids charity golf tournament and supported numerous community and philanthropic initiatives throughout his career.
